Winter is here! And while cold temperatures and the end of the growing season may bring an opportunity to rest, creatures big and small need to find ways to adapt to the harsh conditions. This February break, students in grades K-5 will learn how Connecticut wildlife finds creative ways to survive. We’ll talk about how anatomy impacts strategies, look for tracks to better understand winter behavior, and talk about how creatures adjust their diets as food sources change. And we’ll utilize Lachat’s firepit as an example of how humans have learned to adapt to the cold!
This program will be almost entirely outdoors, so please dress your child(ren) for the weather (more details will be sent before the program begins). That being said, we will also utilize the Barn and Farmhouse for breaks and shelter as needed. Wild Winter will run from 9am-1pm, February 20-24th. Registration for one or more days for $80, or the entire week for $350!
