Wilderness Kids (K-2)

From the glisten of cobwebs, to the crunch of fresh snow, to the satisfying warmth of a campfire, winter is a treat for the senses. Your children may be used to the confines of a warm home during winter, but Wilderness Kids is back and bringing your kids outdoors!

This January, children are invited to Lachat to explore topics like wildlife study, survival skills, herbalism, natural arts, campfire cooking, and much more. This program will be held fully outdoors, rain or shine, as long as it is safe to do so. In the event of unusually challenging weather, we will utilize the Offutt Education Center as needed. People have been living, working, and playing in the cold for centuries, and with proper clothing, your child can be comfortable outside for hours regardless of the weather. We will address tips and tricks for winter layering in our welcome email to set your kiddos up for success! We can’t wait to make the most of winter this year. Join us!

Bus transportation is available from Weston schools for this program - please be sure to select "Lachat Town Farm - Bus 6" in dismissal manager each week. In addition to proper clothing, children should pack a snack and water bottle.
