Welcome to Junior Farmhands, the ultimate summer adventure at Lachat Town Farm! Discover all that Lachat's expansive grounds have to offer, including vibrant gardens, playful goats, adorable bunnies, and winding trails through the forest: this program promises an unforgettable experience for your explorers.
Each week brings a new and exciting theme centered around farming, nature, and sustainability. Special guests will help bring each theme to life, making every week exciting, while still including our core activities. Children will explore our captivating property, develop their green thumbs in our gardens, care for our friendly animals, unleash their artistic flair using natural materials, delve into environmental education, and much more. Every week culminates with a hay ride around the property!
New this year: Little and Junior Farmhands (ages 5-10) stay from 9am-3pm! In addition, each week will include cooking activities in Brian's Kitchen and visits to Seth's Wilderness Playground and outdoor classroom!
Junior Farmhands is an outdoor based program designed for kids who love exploring and nature and enjoy getting their hands dirty! Indoor spaces will be used as needed for breaks from the elements and for activities like cooking. Our small program size and high adult to child ratio ensures a high level of supervision that empowers kids to cultivate independence and knowledge in a safe and supportive environment.
